Steeple Rock Funding, LLC, a licensed mortgage broker, was formed in 2009 by Brent Payne and Mike Olson, engaging in private, hard money real estate lending activities to address the capital requirements of investors in the Arizona real estate market.

Meet Brent Payne
Brent, a New Mexico native, has resided in Arizona since 1974. He’s lived in Gilbert, AZ, with his wife and family since 1985.
Brent graduated from Arizona State University (ASU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration. During his time at ASU, he served as an accountant and controller of a Phoenix-based real estate company from 1975-1978.
After graduating ASU in 1978, Brent began his career in real estate brokerage, development and finance. In 1980 he founded Payne Resources, Inc., which engaged in land brokerage and development, and the acquisition, planning, development, leasing & sale of light industrial, commercial and office properties.
In addition to his experience in the real estate field, Brent’s business activities include the co-founding and operation of two independent software businesses and a computer software and accessories marketing firm. He also served as a founding board member of a community bank.
Brent serves as the “Responsible Individual” for Steeple Rock Funding and is a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator. His primary areas of responsibility include regulatory compliance, development of funding sources for the company’s activities, investor reporting and relations, and management oversight of the company’s operations and activities.
Brent has served in a number of professional and service organizations including the Boy Scouts of America, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council and in his church.

Meet Michael Olson
Mike is an Arizona native and resides in Gilbert with his wife and three children. He graduated from Arizona State University (ASU) in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.
Upon graduation, Mike began his career in financial services with Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. He held several positions during his six plus year tenure, and earned Series 7, 9, 10, 55, & 63 Securities Licenses. The final four years with Schwab were as an Options Trade Analyst within the Risk & Credit Services Department.
In 2006 Mike began working in real estate development and investments at Payne Resources, Inc. Working alongside Brent Payne, Mike gained great experience in project feasibility, planning, entitlement, financing, construction, and sales. Projects have ranged in size from small fix and flips of residential properties to the successful design, construction, and sales of a 70-acre commercial light industrial park.
Mike is a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator; his primary areas of responsibility at Steeple Rock Funding include loan underwriting, customer relations, and loan portfolio monitoring.

Meet Mark Payne
Mark is an Arizona native and graduated from Arizona State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.
Shortly after graduation, Mark began working full-time with Steeple Rock Funding. Mark has been instrumental to the growth of Steeple Rock Funding as they continue to expand and take on exciting new projects.
Mark has been a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator since 2013; his primary areas of responsibility at Steeple Rock include nationwide targeted marketing, development of capital sources, and deal sourcing, underwriting and packaging. He currently resides in Gilbert, Arizona with his wife and daughter.

Meet Brian Payne
Before joining Steeple Rock, Brian was a policy analyst with an Arizona-based advocacy organization that represents the ten largest cities in the Phoenix area on water issues, helping to ensure Arizona’s cities have water to support economic development. In that role, he represented the Phoenix Valley cities in regional planning efforts and stakeholder processes involving state agencies, the Arizona Legislature, and other interested parties.
Brian graduated from Arizona State University in 2011 with a degree in finance. In 2015, he graduated top of his class from the Washburn University School of Law. Brian is a licensed attorney in Arizona, and in addition to his other responsibilities he is Steeple Rock’s General Counsel.
